I teach classical guitar lessons in New York City and Worldwide through Skype. I'm very close to the 148 street express stop (3 or A/D train at 145st). It takes about 20 minutes to get here from 59th street/Columbus Circle.
My lessons are designed for all levels and beginners are more than welcome! Each lesson runs 1 hour and costs $90. I also have a spare concert guitar here for those who would rather not bring a guitar with them to the lessons (very handy for those traveling into the city). I also teach lessons via webcam through skype.
Once a month, I hold a free "guitar salon" at my studio. Attendance of the salon is optional. The guitar salon is simply a friendly enviroment where students can meet one another, practice performing, and share ideas about playing and learning the guitar. You can see photos of my teaching studio and the salon performances here.
I have now also started an ensemble class for students. This class meets once a month and practices ensemble music for four or more guitars. This class is desgned for students who desire to play with others, learn more about rhythm, dynamics, and listening.
Recommended Materials for Classical Guitar Instruction
(advanced students, please contact me for repertoire and study material suggestions)
The Julio SagrerasMethod is one of the most complete and enjoyable methods available. Using the "Tarrega School" principles, this Method not only introduces every classical guitarist to the various techniques used in the style, but also to the typical harmonic movement, scales, and voice leading found in the classical guitar repertoire. Highly Recommended.
